Rosa Pauline Bray Arrowood

Rosa Pauline Bray Arrowood, 90, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 4, 2014. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Mikado Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Arrowood, Rev. Rusty Smith, and Dr. George Palmer officiating. Serving as Pallbearers will be Jerry Forsyth, Angie Rose Arrowood, Daniel Bert Arrowood, Cody Martin, Tyler Martin and Larry Ballard, Jr. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Snow’s Memorial Chapel on Pio Nono Avenue. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice Care Options, 486 New Street, Macon, 31201 or the Christ for Kylei Chambless (Newell Chambless) fund in care of State Bank.

Mrs. Arrowood was born in Roberta, GA to the late Charles Simmons Bray and Minnie Lee Bray. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a faithful member of Mikado Baptist Church for over 58 years. She worked in the cradle-roll nursery and youth department for many years, was the church hostess for many years, and was a greeter on Sunday morning. She was a World War II veteran and was the first lady to join the Women’s Auxiliary Air Corps (WAAC) at Robins Air Force Base. She was a charter volunteer for the Museum of Aviation for 25 years with over 4,000 volunteer hours. She was recognized in 2003 by the Secretary of State for Outstanding Achievement in Field of Military Service. In 1998 she was a finalist for the Woman of the Year (volunteer category) for the State of Georgia. She worked with the Cherry Blossom Festival dipping ice cream in Third Street Park for 17 years. She loved to travel in the United States and abroad. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Bert Arrowood, her parents, numerous brothers and sisters.

Surviving Mrs. Arrowood are her children, Tom (Jan) Arrowood, Harriet (Ed) Curtis, Patsy (Larry) Ballard, Dr. Rick (Dolly) Arrowood, Cathy (Charles) Harris, and Robin (Jeff) Sanders, 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters (Beatrice Daniels and Jackie Hileman), numerous nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank her precious granddaughter, Tami Trammell, for the loving care and devotion she gave to her “Nanny” during this time. We also would like to thank Sandy Edwards, her loving nurse, and Angela Hart, her nursing assistant, for all their tender care on this journey.
