

Virginia Meadows Doyle, 94, wife of the late Walter F. Doyle, Sr., passed away October 9th, 2013 at her home at the Cottages at Wesleyan in Macon, Georgia. Funeral services will be officiated by Reverend Ron Holland at Snow’s Memorial Chapel at 746 Cherry Street in Macon at 2pm Sunday, October 13, 2013 with visitation 1 hour prior to service. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery immediately following.
She was born on May 31, 1919 in Manchester, Georgia to the late William Armstead and Eddie Estelle Meadows. She was fortunate to have 3 brothers, one who is still living, William Armstead Meadows, Jr., and two who predeceased her – Rev. G. Merrill Meadows and Elmo Meadows.
She was a member of Vineville Baptist Church all of her adult life. She set an example worthy of emulation, living a life of selfless devotion to family, church, and education. She served her church as a Sunday School teacher, a Nursery Coordinator, a member of the choir, music committee and chairman of the nominating committee, and served her community as an educator and countless other ways.
She was dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge, not only in her commitment to her own education, but in her ardor to educate others. She attended Manchester High School, Norman Junior College, Perry Business School, and Mercer University. She taught school at T.D. Tinsley School and the Macon Vocational School.
She was a faithful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, all of whom have learned from exemplary illustration what a good Christian life was all about. Mrs. Doyle is survived by two children, Carol (Charlie) Gavin of Manning, SC and Walter F. (Anne) Doyle, Jr. of Macon, Georgia; grand-children, David (Anne Harvin) Gavin of Columbia, SC, Kim (Chad) Newman of Winnsboro, SC, Elizabeth (David) Tate of Woodstock, Ga., Emily (David) Dykes of Columbus, Ga. and Patrick Doyle of Macon, Ga.; and nine great-grandchildren, Amelia Gavin, William Gavin, Sarah Tate, Haylee Doyle, Logan Dykes, Chloe Tate, Abigail Tate, Andrew Tate, and Aiden Dykes. She was warmly and compassionately cared for by several at-home staff - Vicky Stewart, Thelma Gibson, Winifred Redding, Dorothy Vinson, and Patricia Hawthorne.
Memorial donations in her memory may be given to Vineville Baptist Church 2591 Vineville Ave, Macon 31204 or to the charity of choice.
