

William “Billy” Alva Norris, Jr., a loving husband, father and grandfather went to be with the Lord March 28, 2014. Billy was born January 21, 1936 in Columbus, Georgia the son of the late William A. Norris, Sr. and Eloise McCardle Norris. The family moved to Macon when Billy was eleven and he attended and graduated from Lanier High School. Then he attended the University of Georgia, where he played on the freshman basketball team and helped start the Georgia Bulldog Club.
The family owned the Macon Beauty Supply Company until he later retired and the company was sold in 2000.
Billy was a big supporter of the University of Georgia and the football program. The Macon Midget football program was his love and he coached from 1969 and 1993.
He was a long time member of Ingleside Baptist Church and Idle Hour Golf & Country Club.
He married Lana Jean Turner April 4, 1959 in Valdosta, Georgia. He is survived by his wife, Lana Jean Turner Norris of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; two sons, William “Trey” Norris, III of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Stephen “Steve” Turner Norris of Macon, GA; two grandchildren, William Smith of Milledgeville GA, Sydni Norris of Macon, GA; one sister, Natalie Moore of Atlanta, GA; his daughter, Elizabeth Smith preceded him in death.
A Celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, graveside in Riverside Cemetery (North Gate). Dr. Tim McCoy will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 PM Monday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Ingleside Baptist Church, 834 Wimbish Road, Macon 31210 or the donor’s favorite charity.
