CAROL CRAVEN ROBINSON, of Madison, passed away Dec. 15, 2025 at Essex Meadows Health Center, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Boston, MA in 1932, to a large, gregarious family, she was educated at Brookline High School before acceptance at Wellesley College, where she excelled as a linguist, graduating in 1954. She took her acumen to the National Security Agency where she worked as a Cryptanalyst and Translator, and also extended her education by attending Georgetown University’s Graduate Studies Program. Through her work with NSA she discovered her love of education, and went on to receive her Masters of Education from Harvard University in 1958, before embarking on a long and successful career as an educator. Most notably, she taught Foreign Languages at the Country School of Madison, ascending to become Head of School. After retiring from administration, she continued to teach, first at St. Mary’s High School of New Haven, and then at Sacred Heart Academy of Hamden, where she discovered her love of woman’s basketball, becoming an avid fan of UConn’s women’s team.
A woman of immense faith, Carol was a member of St. Margaret Parish in Madison for sixty one years, where she taught CCD and Confirmation Classes. She was also a longtime supporter of the Scranton Memorial Library, serving on the Board of Trustees as well as President of the Friends of Scranton Library.
She is survived by her devoted husband of sixty-eight years, Henry Otis Robinson II, and her loving children, Henry O. Robinson III, Elizabeth R. Baldwin and husband Robert, and Lawrence P. Robinson and wife Nora, as well as grandchildren Hannah and Gus Baldwin. She will be deeply missed by her family and community.
The family would like to extend their profound thanks to the staff of Essex Meadows for their exceptional care.
