

He was born on January 10, 1945, in New Haven, Connecticut, to Donald and Edna Collins. David was a lifelong resident of Madison, where he built a life rooted in family, community, and dedication to his work.
David earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Bucknell University in 1967, where he participated in Army ROTC. He later received his MBA from the University of New Haven in 1980. Following his graduation, David served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of First Lieutenant. While stationed in Heidelberg, Germany, he met his future wife, Ingrid, beginning a marriage that lasted 54 years.
David enjoyed a long and successful career spanning more than 30 years with Southern New England Telecommunications, where he was respected for his commitment and professionalism.
An avid golfer, David was a longtime member of the Madison Country Club, where he spent many enjoyable hours on the course. He was also an active member of the Exchange Club of Madison, contributing his time and energy to the local community.
David will be remembered as quick-witted and fun-loving, bringing warmth and humor to those around him.
David is survived by his wife, Ingrid Mogstad Collins; his son Trent Collins and his wife Cristina of Redwood City, California, and their daughters Catherine Collins, Sophia Nangle, and Chloe Nangle; and his son Todd Collins and his wife Amy of Guilford, Connecticut, and their daughter Tessa Collins. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Lynn Ironside and Deryl Foss.
A memorial service will be held at a later date this spring in the Madison area.
