

Doris A. Murphy, age 85 of Madison passed away on July 9, 2012. Doris was born in New Haven on March 26, 1927 to the late Elizabeth I. (Donleavy) and Edward T. Ahern. Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by her loving husband John M. Murphy; sons Brendan E. Murphy and John Marion Murphy; sister Janet Fitzpatrick; and grandson Jack Murphy.
She is survived by her sons Father Bernard aka John David Murphy, Paul T. (Donna) Murphy, Kevin P. (Colleen) Murphy, Mark A. (Laurianne) Murphy, and Justin M. (Carmen) Murphy ; and grandchildren Kyle, Matt, Haley, Sarah, Jennifer, and Brendan Murphy. Doris was significantly involved in The Catholic Church through her late husband John’s involvement in the Knights of Columbus, where he served as the Supreme Advocate and retired as the Deputy Supreme Knight. She was also a member of The Catholic Charity League, The Ladies Guild of St. Margaret Church, The Madison Beach Club, and The Winter Club. However, Doris’ greatest pleasure in life was raising and being surrounded by her sons.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 13 at 10:00 AM at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Madison. Calling hours will take place on Thursday, July 12 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Road in Madison. Friends may also call on Friday morning from 9:00AM until 10:00 am at St. Margaret Church prior to the Funeral Mass. Messages of condolence may be left online at www.swanfuneralhomemadison.com.
