

Elsie Brown Kukta, of Madison, left this life at peace at Middlesex Memorial Hospital Hospice Wing on Feb. 7, 2011. She was the beloved wife of Barnett Kukta. Elsie was born in Lyme to the late Benjamin and Edna (Walden) Putnam. Mrs. Kukta was the manager of the Ben Franklin Five & Dime Store in Madison for 38 years. Madison has lost a good friend. Besides her husband of 65 years, she is survived by her 2 sons: Barnett, Jr. and his wife Raisa of Clinton; and David and his wife Diane of Chester; a brother Elsworth of Ocala, FL; and predeceased by 2 brothers: Malcom of Middlefield, and Arthur of Keene, NH. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Dave, Jr. and his wife Laurie; Michael and his wife Leslie; Steven and his wife Kasha; and Nichole; 8 great grandchildren: Christian; Mikhala; Isaiah; Angelina; Julia; Caitlin; Alexa; and Ashley. She also leaves her favorite girl Annie Rose; 2 nieces: Martha Lynn Rice, and Barbara Grillo – her goddaughter. Family and friends may visit the Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Road, Madison, Thursday February 10, 2011 from 6 – 8 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be Friday, at 11 am at St. Margaret Church, 24 Academy St., Madison. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beach Park Rd., Clinton.
