Fred was a wonderful guy. I enjoyed bowling with him for many years at the Quinnipiack Club. It was always great to talk with him and join him for dinner at the bowlers' table. When he talked about his business, he sometimes responded that there were a lot of ups and downs. He was a true gentleman and a great friend to his fellow bowlers. Fred was so highly respected, that the "Fred Farnsworth Award" for good sportsmanship was established years ago. Any bowler who was fortunate enough to receive this award was always grateful for the recognition. In his later years, Fred always looked forward to attending the bowling banquet to participate in the awards and distribution of prizes. Fred set a fine example as to how to live our lives and we are all better for having known him. He will be missed.

Over several years Fred and I worked together on several Town Commissions and projects involving the environment and harbor management. He became a friend and professional colleague. I miss him, as does much of Guilford.
