
George E. Blair Jr., 82, long time resident of Madison, CT died in Hospice at Middlesex Hospital on March 11. He was the beloved husband, of the late Suzanne Barbara Blair. He was born on May 2, 1928 in Salem, NJ. George served the Madison Police for 27 years. He was a retired Lieutenant, detective, and the town’s first Youth Officer. He also served the North Madison Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He was a United States Navy veteran. George and his wife Barbara were long time members of the North Madison Congregational Church.
Everyone will miss his smile, laugh, and the twinkle in his eye. His love for his friends and family was immeasurable, he was an amazing man.
He is survived by four children; George E. Blair III and his wife Michele of NJ; Suzanne G. Starr and her husband Markham of N. Stonington; Arthur R. Blair and his wife Amy of Killingworth; and Della E. Strickland and her husband Todd of Madison. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Butch Blair and Stanley Blair both of NJ; 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and so very many friends.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 PM Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the North Madison Congregational Church. Funeral Service will begin at 6:30 PM on that same day. Interment will be held at noon on Sunday, May 1 at Summerhill Cemetery, North Madison with military honors. The Swan Funeral Home of Madison is in charge of arrangements.
