John Rooney

John Daniel Rooney Jr., 85, husband of Monique M. Rooney, of Guilford, passed away at CT Hospice on July 7, 2014. Born on September 30, 1928 in the Pelham Bay Section of the Bronx, he was the son of the late John and Marie (O’Brien) Rooney. He had resided in Guilford for the past 10 years, and previously lived in Madison for 45 years. He attended and graduated from Regis High School in the Bronx. He attended Fordham University and graduated from Quinnipiac University. Mr. Rooney was employed as a Financial Analyst by Legg Mason prior to his retirement. A WWII Veteran Mr. Rooney served in the US Army.

Besides his wife Monique, he is survived by his children John (Lori) Rooney, Thomas (Tammey) Rooney, Robert (Melinda) Rooney, Danielle (Francis) Berkley, Michelle (Brian) Murray and Isabelle (Richard) Hahn. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, his sister Theresa Rooney and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his first wife Isabelle Telford Rooney and his brother Eugene Rooney.

A memorial service will be held at the Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd., Madison on August 2, 2014 at 2pm. Family and friends may visit the Swan Funeral Home on Saturday from 12noon until the time of service at 2pm.
