Joseph Ellwanger of New London died unexpectedly on February 9, 2025. Born in the Bronx, he was the son of Charles and Mathilda Ellwanger. After graduation from Johnson & Wales he moved to California to pursue his career as a chef.
Ten years later he moved back to the east coast where he found the love of his life, Donna. After her death, Joe decided to move back to Connecticut to be closer to family.
Joe was a kind and gentle soul who cared for everyone, including his cats Dark and Stormy. He loved his family, friends, cooking, music and chocolate. He touched many lives and will truly be missed.
He is survived by his best friend and brother, Charlie, his sister, Carolyn and brother-in-law, Thomas.
A celebration of life will be held in the Spring/Summer.
