Karolina was born on September 19, 1968, in Hanau, Germany, to her parents, Vagarsak and Vartuai. She was raised alongside her younger brother, Alex, within a close-knit extended family and a wide circle of friends. Deeply rooted in her Armenian heritage, Karolina’s upbringing was filled with warmth, community, and tradition—values that shaped her compassionate nature and profoundly loving spirit.
After completing her schooling, Karolina trained as a Pharmacist Technical Assistant (PTA). She began her professional career at a pharmacy wholesaler in Hanau before joining the customer service team at Eurocart in Frankfurt. During this time, she met Christof, the love of her life. They married shortly thereafter and were blessed with two children, Vincent and Helena.
In August 2000, Christof’s work led the family to relocate to the United States. Though the transition brought its challenges, Karolina met them with remarkable resilience, grace, and determination. She quickly built a strong support system and lasting friendships through her involvement in community groups such as the Spielgruppe, the Newcomers Club, Book Club, Kaffeklatsch, and the International Women’s Club. Wherever life took her, Karolina had a rare gift for forming meaningful connections and creating a sense of belonging.
Karolina was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished daughter and sister, and a treasured friend. Her vibrant smile, infectious laugh, and warm presence had the power to brighten any room. She found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments: taking long walks on the beach with her husband, helping customers find the perfect piece of jewelry during her part-time work at Branford Jewelers, sharing coffee or lunch with friends, and, most of all, spending time with her family.
An exceptional cook and baker, Karolina was especially known for her beloved apple cakes, which brought comfort and happiness to so many. While gentle and grounded by nature, she also possessed a fiery spirit and an enthusiasm for life. Whether dancing the night away at a David Guetta concert or dancing casually around the kitchen, her vibrant energy was unmistakable.
Above all, Karolina will be remembered for her boundless kindness, her unwavering love for her family, and the countless lives she touched with her gentle heart and beautiful spirit. She was an extraordinary mother, a devoted wife, and a loyal, compassionate friend.
Karolina will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of her family and the many dear friends she made along the way.
Family and friends may call Wednesday December 17th from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd Madison, CT. A prayer service will take place at 5:30 PM in the funeral home.
