
Mary C. O’Keefe of Madison, beloved wife of the late John V. O’Keefe, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 11, 2011 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Mary was born in Boston on February 15, 1919, and resided in Worcester until moving to Madison in 1996. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Bridget (Clarke) Costello. She was the beloved mother of Nancy (Kenneth) Mulvey of Guilford. She delighted in her three grandchildren Gregory of Farmington, Timothy of Memphis, TN and Tara of Washington, D.C. She worked for AT&T in Boston before moving to Worcester. Mary was a devoted volunteer for many organizations during her years in Worcester. Mary was a wonderful friend to everyone she encountered. She was predeceased by her seven brothers: Walter, John, Thomas, Francis, Redmond, James, Richard Costello and two sisters Margaret Sullivan Kirby and Rita Caires. She leaves many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and numerous friends and acquaintances. The family will receive friends at Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Road, Madison, from 9- 11:30 AM on Monday, March 14. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon at St. Margaret’s Church, Madison. Interment will be at St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester, Massachusetts at the family’s convenience. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mary’s name to Community Soup Kitchen c/o Christ Church, 84 Broadway, New Haven, CT 06511.
