

Meryl Ann nee Gardner Lindquist died peacefully at home in Madison with her husband Fred by her side on March 31. Meryl was born to the late Malcom and Muriel Gardner in Norwalk( Silvermine), Connecticut. August 7,1942.
She grew up in New Hyde Park, New York and graduated from New Hyde Park Memorial High School in1960. After high school her family moved to Clinton, Connecticut where she worked for the Clinton Bank. After her marriage to Fred Lindquist in 1963 and a short stay in New Hyde Park they moved to Holbrook, New York. She worked for a brief period after marriage and soon became a life long a stay-at-home mom.
While living in Holbrook she was a Browne Leader for her two daughters, a cub scout den mother for her son and later Boy Scout committee person for her son's troop, an active Audubon member as well as being the president of the Ronkonkoma Garden Club winning a number of awards for her floral creations at Suffolk County completions. She was an avid gardener all her life and loved her garden fish pond. Her home was the gathering point for her children and their friends. One of her nieces said that her Aunt Meryl was always there to listen and you knew she had your full attention.
After moving to Madison she became an active member of the Lutheran Church of Madison and served as nursery school teacher as well as a vacation bible school teacher. Later became an active member St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Old Saybrook. She loved to travel throughout our country visiting our national parks and historic sites as well her many trips to many of the Caribbean islands, Bermuda, Canada, Mexico, and Scandinavia. She relished her vacation trips with her grandchildren opening their eyes to nature, history and the environment. She loved to write poetry and was a true lover of animals and nature. She loved the music of John Denver and Andreas Botticelli. She was true romantic.
She is survived by her husband Fred Lindquist just short of 5 days from their 57th wedding anniversary, her daughter Laura Lee Rasco ,her husband Rey and their son Geoffrey of Glastonbury, CT., her son Kenneth Lindquist, his wife Christina and their childern Abagail and William, and her daughter Linda Labrec and her husband Michael and their childern Gayle and Gavin of Westbrook.
A memorial service will be held in Late August or early fall.
There will be a grave side service for family
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude, Boy's Town or Best Friends
