Robert John Ganino

12 mai 194216 février 2021

Robert John Ganino, 78, of Madison, Connecticut passed away peacefully at Midstate Medical Center in Meriden, Connecticut on February 16, 2021. Born in Stamford, Connecticut on May 12, 1942 to Rosario and Mary (Viviano) Ganino, he was the oldest of four children. A graduate of Stamford High School and Morehead State University, he found his professional success in Hartford’s insurance world where he worked for a number of prominent firms (Allstate, Alexander & Alexander, Bailey, Martin & Faye, Hilb, Rogal & Hamilton, Fred S. James & Co.) before opening his own agency.

A devoted husband and father, he leaves behind his beloved wife Eliza (Brewer) Ganino of 48 years, and his children, Katherine (Ganino) Reddick with her husband, Chad, and Patrick Christopher Ganino with his wife, Alletah (Joy) Ganino, as well as his four grandchildren, whom he adored, Lauren, Carter, and Colson Ganino and Atticus Reddick. He is also survived by his sisters, Patricia (Ganino) Macchia with her husband, Richard, of Fort Myers, Florida, Linda (Ganino) Sartori of Roslindale, Massachusetts, Karen (Ganino) Pendolphi with her husband, Robert, of Gales Ferry, Connecticut, and his brother-in-law, Daniel Brewer, with his wife, Donna (Buntaine) Brewer, of Stonington, Connecticut, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Robert, known as Bob to most, called Bobby by his siblings, and Papa by his grandchildren, had an insouciant sense of humor and could coax a smile or laugh from anyone. He earned his pilot’s license in high school and loved driving American cars. He enjoyed lively political conversations, classic films, and boisterous meals surrounded by family.

Memorial services will be private. Donations may be made to the Westbook Elks Club, of which Bob was a longtime member. Bob always described his life as his movie in which the rest of us played our parts. Consider this his final credits.

I met Bob in 1979 while working for The Security Ins. Gp. in Hartford, Ct. He was the agent and I was the Br. Mgr. I think we clicked right away because I was half Italian . His tremendous personality and our mutual interest in each others trials and tribulations helped to keep us connected as our careers took us to many stops in our Insurance careers. I hate to think of how many three martini lunches we enjoyed. Rest in peace my friend and I'll have one martini to your memory and our friendship. Your friend always, Nay
