

Born in Englewood, NJ, he moved to Hobe Sound in 1998, coming from Madison, CT. He retired from the U. S. Navy as a Commander. He served during the Korean Conflict.
He was a banker and retired as Senior Vice President and Treasurer of First Bank of New Haven, CT and served as a financial consultant to several banks in Connecticut.
He received his Bachelor's degree from Brown University. He also attended Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth and taught Naval History there. He was a graduate of Stonier Graduate School of Banking and taught courses at American Institute of Banking.
He was past president of Hamden, CT Chamber of Commerce; served with the United Way of New Haven; was a member of New Haven Chamber of Commerce Port Development Committee; and Treasurer of Central Connecticut U. S. Navy League.
His hobbies included boating, extensive traveling, golf and watching sporting events, particularly the New York Giants and the New York Yankees.
Beloved by his extended family and friends, he is survived by his wife, Ann Patricia (Killan) Young of Hobe Sound; children, Cheryl Zaney of Charlotte, NC; William A. Young, Jr. of Washington, D. C.; Deborah Olesiak of Indialantic, FL; step-son, Bernard McDermott of West Haven, CT; sister, Barbara Tyler of Dennis, MA; and six grandchildren, Blakely Adams; Nathan Adams; Trevor Olesiak; Taylor Olesiak; Jordan Olesiak and Bernard A. C. McDermott.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Blakely Young.
