Aunt Pat, Gary, Bruce, Laura and Jodi! Please know that you are in our thoughts during this time. I am remembering the trip all of you made to visit us in Tucson. We never laughed so much and had such a great time with all of you. We visited Tombstone and had a blast camping along the way. May the laughter always be there. You shared a lifetime of love and memories and we were blessed to be a part of it. You have my sympathy. On behalf of my parents, brothers and sisters, I regret that we were unable to make the services and wish to express our heartfelt sympathy and send our love to all the family.

Herkie was one of the most thoughtful, generous, and kind-hearted men that I ever had the pleasure of being acquainted with, and have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for. He was a true friend to my dad for over 70 years, as they grew up together and both served in the Korean War. Anytime Herkie was in the Uniontown area, he always took the time to stop by the house to see my dad and visit with the family. 

It's been many years, but we have never forgotten you guys. We still think about and speak of the many times when you all would come visit us on Nutt Avenue. We realize what good times they were and will always cherish the many fond memories.

Herkie had a beautiful way of speaking and we always enjoyed opportunities to hear him tell stories about his friendship with my dad. Those stories, coming from Herkie, were even more enjoyable because of his captivating accent (which I loved) and his contagious laugh. We will miss him, even though we did not see him often. His friendly smile and those smiling eyes, as well as his loyal friendship with my dad...will never be forgotten. My dad has lost a very dear friend - one whose memories we will always cherish. 

Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss. Our thoughts and love are with you and your family during this difficult time. 
May you all take comfort in the happy memories you have. He loved you all so much.

I was sadden to hear of your DADDY`S passing, This is one of the hardest tasks we are given ,and also one we are never ready for,My Family and I pray that our Lord God  & his Son Jesus grant your family all his Suport,Love,& Strength to make it through the difficult days ahead. We  share a loss  but also a homecomming, its been three months to the day that my Daddy got to go home and I`m sure he got to meet your daddy home and offer him a hand shake as they did not get to do it here do to their illiness, Now the two Granddads will smile down on THEIR Greatgrand Son  Gabriel ,and keep his safe with GODS Blessing! It was 25 years ago we lived next door to Herkie.  But I remember him well.  He is one of those people that left an impression on you.  I still remember he would pronounce my name as "Dawn-a" with his accent. I remember him being very kind and very crazy.  A very down to earth, genuine person.  And even though he always had a smile on his face, he was the first grown man I ever saw cry when I was a child.  One night after his dog Gretchen passed away, he was standing in his back yard with his head in his hands.  I don't know why I remember that.  I guess because he is the kind of person who left an impression on people he met.  He will be welcomed greatly into Heaven.  My deepest sympathies to the Sylvesters.
