Dennis M. Barrer Sr. passed away on June 29, 2018 at the age of 71. He was the loving husband of Billie for over 52 years. The beloved father of Cara (Jerry Cariveau) Barrer, Dennis M. (Vicky) Barrer Jr., and Amanda (Edward Salbert) Salbert. The cherished grandfather of Lorne, Ashley, Ashton, Bethany, Kayla, and Kenneth, and the great grandfather of Lucy and Dakota. He was the dear brother of the late Tillman C. (Sharon) Barrer Jr. and Terry (Mary) Barrer. Dennis is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Tillman and Maudine Barrer.
Dennis was a graduate of the 1964 class of Lamphere High School in Madison Heights. He was a proud Army veteran and served from 1966 to 1968. Dennis always kept busy and dedicated 29 years to General Motors and 10 years to American Axel. After his retirement he worked for several years with the Warren Tech Center. Dennis enjoyed many things including drawing, animals, golf, and Michigan State Football.
Visitation for Dennis will take place on Monday, July 2, 2018 from 1:00 to 8:00 pm at Edward Swanson & Son Funeral Home, 30351 Dequindre Road in Madison Heights. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 11:00 am at Warren Missionary Baptist Church, 11285 E 10 Mile Road in Warren. Friends may visit the church beginning at 10:00 am.
