Genevieve (Henning) Rothwell, age 90, passed away peacefully in the company of family on Wednesday September 11, 2019. Genevieve was born on January 2, 1929, and grew up in Detroit, Michigan. She was the loving wife of William "Bill" Rothwell for 56 years. Genevieve was a proud employee of the Royal Oak School District for many years and enjoyed working with children. She was regarded for her honesty, her sharp wit, and her ability to make others laugh. She was proud of her polish heritage and loved to share her favorite polish songs. Genevieves favorite pursuits included listening to music, dancing, and spending time with family. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, and she will be remembered for her ability to somehow become the life of every social outing that she attended. Genevieve is preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Rothwell, her son William "Bill" Rothwell II (Elizabeth), her siblings Maurcie Henning (the late Mary) and Wanda MacDonnell (Kevin). She is survived by her brother, Victor Henning(the late Ann); her daughters Diane Thompson (the late Duane) and Janine Charlton (Robert); her eight grandchildren, Dana (Silvio), Giannetti, Danielle (Dan) St. Pierre, Deanne Thompson, Robyn Charlton, Shannon Charlton, Lindsay (Joel) Szela, William (Erica) Rothwell III, and Michelle (John Shields); and her five great grandchildren (Isabella, Emma, Evan, Christopher, and Brock). Family and friends, and others whose lives Genevieve touched are invited to the Edward Swanson & Son Funeral Home 30351 Dequindre Rd. Madison Heights, MI, on Sunday, September 15th from 2:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. to reminisce, grieve, support each other and of course just chat.
