
Helen Theresa Curtis was one of three children born to the union of Walter and Angeline Kozik. She was born on August 31, 1926 in Hamtramck, Michigan. At a very young age she meet Stanley Gosczynski. Together they had eleven beautiful children. After many years she happily met and united with Harry W. Curtis in 1958. To this union one daughter was born. Together they cared for thirteen children.
Helen was raised as a devoted Catholic. During her adulthood she and harry moved to Detroit, They joined membership at St. Mathias Church from 1966-1978. As a service to the church they maintained and set up for various programs and events.
Helen was educated in the Public School System of Hamtramck. She was gainfully employed for Kresge's Five and Dime. This was the longest and most memorable employment, working behind the candy counter. After the closing of Kresge's she worked for many years as a waitress and cook, she retired in the early 1990's.
Mama, Grandma and Grams was loved. She found a way to have a special and unique relationship with all that knew and loved her. She enjoyed family gatherings and holidays. She was very outspoken and when in her house, "You Better Eat". She loved country music and dancing. She was devoted to her family and a remarkable example of strength.
On Saturday April 3, 2010 she peacefully departed this life.
Preceding her in death, Stanley Gosczynski, Harry Curtis, Adele Kozik, Kathleen Gosczynski and Robert Denny.
She leaves to cherish her memory her brother Fred Kozik, children Gloria Reed, Stanley Gosczynski (Elizabeth), Barbara Polly (Wayne), Caroline Gosczynski(Cleston), Larry, Shirley, Patricia, Dennis, Kenny Gosczynski, Linda Curtis (Derrick), Roy Curtis and Petey Curtis.
Twelve grandchidlren: Terry, Jeanie, Tommy, Charles, Lee, Stanley, Christopher, Micheal, Craig, Paula, Lisa and Kevin.
Thirteen great grandchidlren: Missy, Davita, Tommy Jr., Paulette, Michael, David, Jeremy, Breanna, Craig -2, Charleton, Lee, Jr., and Aleesia.
Memorial visitation was held on Tuesday April 6, 2010 at Edward Swanson & Son Funeral Home, Madison Heights, Michigan
