Mark was born on May 11, 1934, in Detroit. The son of Armenian immigrants and a proud Armenian American himself, Mark was raised in Highland Park. From a young age and throughout his life, Mark valued family and friendship. As a young boy, he loved sports, playing baseball and football. After graduating from Highland Park High School, he started work and served in the United States Army in Europe. Upon his return, he married his beloved Susan, his loving and beloved wife of 57 years. They resided for the entirety of their marriage in Madison Heights, Michigan. Mark proudly spent his career at Manufacturers Bank, where he formed strong relations with his clients, coworkers, and medical professionals, managing a branch in Henry Ford Hospital.
A man of great kindness, Mark celebrated life with great cheer, modesty, and profound gratitude for his family and friends. Friendship and human connections were deeply important to Mark; he made friends quickly and deeply. Many of Mark's friendships have lasted decades, and he cherished connecting for not just milestones like birthdays and anniversaries, but the calm and regular moments of life. His love of sports threaded his life with regular games of golf, tracking horse races with joyful sports betting, and time in the park. He loved meals with friends, where for many years, he related to children through sharing gold coins. He enjoyed the music of Neil Diamond and Elvis.
Mark sadly lost his beloved Susan in the spring of 2022; while he was deeply saddened by her loss, he maintained his relations with family and friends until his final days. He was a loving and devoted husband who very much wanted to be reunited with his precious Susan. Mark is dearly missed by all his family and friends, who celebrate his life with great love. They are immensely thankful to have shared so much life with such a gentle and selfless soul, and they will forever carry Mark in their hearts.
