Robert Michael Barrett

Robert M. Barrett, age 77, of Madison Heights, Michigan, passed away on May 31, 2023. He was the beloved husband of almost 60 years to Phyllis D. Barrett; Cherished father of Robert M. Barrett Jr. (Donna), Nancy Box (Steve), and Kevin Barrett (Soula); Treasured grandfather of Erin Box, Shane Barrett, Blake Barrett, Sarah Barrett, Ryan Barrett, and Allison Barrett; Dearest brother of Mary Ward (Richard) and Thomas "Jim" Barrett (Linda); Dear brother-in-law of Judy Brooks (Gaylon), Ron Norman (Terri), and the late Harry "Butch" Norman; Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Robert was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 8, 1946, the son of Thomas and Gertrude Barrett. Robert and his wife, Phyllis raised their family in Madison Heights, where Robert also worked for 29 years with the Madison Heights Police Department, ultimately retiring as a Detective Sergeant. In retirement, Robert enjoyed traveling and trips to the casino with Phyllis, where they were Diamond Members. Above all else, Robert took pride and great joy in his family. He never missed an opportunity to be with his grandkids, attending events, traveling, and just hanging out. Robert was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, and he will be deeply missed.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 12-6 PM, with a memorial service at 4:30 PM, at Edward Swanson and Son Funeral Home, 30351 Dequindre Road, Madison Heights, MI 48071.
