Sharina, also known to many as Sharie or B. was born August 10, 1949, in Detroit to Umed Ali and Elsie B. Ali DeLong who are deceased. Her brother Johan Ali is deceased. She is survived by her brother Nazir Ali (Andrea) and sisters Sharon Q. Caffey (William), Joy Miklevich (Michael, deceased) and Connie Jensen/Mike.
Sharina was married to the love of her life, Tom Dajnowicz, for almost 55 years.
Sharina Graduated from Girls Catholic Central in 1966 and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Wayne State University in 1974. Sharina worked for 21 years for Madison District Schools. She worked as the Board Office Receptionist, Secretary and her greatest accomplishment, in her career, was serving as the Human Resources Director for the District. She loved her co-workers who she grew to call family. She was always proud to have hired many talented teachers who are teaching at all levels and have been promoted to administrators all over Michigan and other parts of the country. In 2004 Sharina retired from Madison District Public Schools to be a full time Nanie and later, “study buddy” to grandchildren Emily and Tommy.
Sharina loved to read, watch Jeopardy!, play Words with Friends, garden, travel and play poker with her siblings. Sharina also loved to carry on family traditions with her children, grandchildren and cherished friends. Some of her favorite traditions were to go to Detroit Tiger baseball games, pumpkin painting, pierogi making, gingerbread houses, baking holiday treats to share, applesauce with her sister Joy, jelly making, and making quilts for the ones she loved.
Sharina is survived by her children Jonathan Dajnowicz (Andrea), Laura Sutton (Bret), and David Dajnowicz (Kristy).
Sharina’s grandchildren who call her Nanie are Emily Sutton (George), Tommy Sutton, and Quinn Dajnowicz, whom she called true gifts from God.
Sharina is also survived by beloved nieces and nephews and was graced with a plethora of wonderful, loving friends starting from birth and many, many more along the way.
A Memorial Visitation for Sharina will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Edward Swanson & Son Funeral Home, 30351 Dequindre Road, Madison Heights, MI 48071. Services will begin at 3:30PM with a rosary, followed by a scripture service at 4:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
An Inurnment is scheduled for Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 12:00PM at Roseland Park Cemetery, 29001 Woodward, Berkley, MI 48072.
