Born October 14, 1927 in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Frank Oliver Hicks, Sr. and Elizabeth Johns Hicks and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Tessie Thomas and Ada Cofer and one brother, Herbert Hicks. He was retired from Lynchburg Foundry and was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Hicks is survived by one brother, Frank Hicks, Jr. and wife Estelle of Madison Heights; three sisters, Mary Ellen Johns and husband Fletcher, also of Madison Heights, Velta Roberts and husband Wesley of Princeton, NJ, and Maggie Roberts and husband George of Trenton, NJ; special caregivers, Kathy and Ken Laughlin and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 5, 2012 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
The family will receive friends following the service until 8:30 p.m.
