

Born in Amherst County, April 7, 1945, he was the son of the late John Jordan Tomlin and Beulah Mae Tomlin. He was retired from Mead Corp./Rocktenn and was a lifelong farmer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Elwood and Carlton Tomlin and two sisters, Ora May and Betty Sue Tomlin.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Connie Tyree Tomlin; three children, A.W. Tomlin, Jr., Leslie Tomlin Wright and her husband David and John J. Tomlin and his wife Christy all of Madison Heights; two brothers, Frank Tomlin and his wife JoAnn of Madison Heights, Wayne Tomlin of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Barbara Campbell of Monroe, Mildred Falls and Patricia Cash both of Madison Heights; four grandchildren, Johnathan Davis, Joshua Tomlin and wife Tiffany, Joseph Tomlin and Christopher Tomlin; one great-granddaughter Annabell “Grasshopper” Davis; his mother-in-law Sarah Abbott and a lifelong and devoted friend, Garnett Goff.
A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2016 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Darrell Donald officiating. Interment will follow in Briarwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at the home of his daughter.
