Arnold Ray Phillips Jr.

Arnold Ray Phillips Jr., beloved husband, father, and cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2024, at the age of 70. Born on March 18, 1954, Arnold was the son of Arnold Ray Phillips Sr. and Lovie Odelia Campbell. Arnold is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Deborah "Debbie" Phillips, his loving son Jonathan Phillips, his dear mother Lovie Phillips, his sister Sharon Phillips Brown (Warren), and his special nieces and nephew: Lauren, Cristina, and Joseph. He was also a beloved brother-in-law to Ramona May. Arnold was a proud grandfather figure to his adopted grandchildren: Riley, Kaylee, Bradley, Charlie, Isaac, Malcolm, Cameron, Aubrie, Mia, and Evie. Arnold was preceded in death by his son, Jeremy Phillips, and his father, Arnold Ray Phillips Sr. Arnold was known as a true southern gentleman, cherished by all who knew him, especially his beloved adopted grandchildren. He had a passion for trout fishing, camping, and enjoying the beaches of Myrtle Beach and Nags Head. Arnold found joy in gardening and cooking, often surrounded by his family during the holidays. A dedicated family man and hard worker, Arnold was committed to caring for his loved ones and those in need. His faith was central to his life, and he was regarded as a good Christian man. A celebration of Arnold's life will be held at Whitten Monelison Chapel in Madison Heights, Virginia, on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., with a one-hour visitation preceding the service starting at 5:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Marvin Suitt. Military honors will be bestowed by the American Legion Post 16 in Lynchburg, Virginia. In honor of Arnold, the family kindly requests that attendees dress casually. Whitten Monelison Chapel is providing assistance to the family during this time of remembrance and reflection. Arnold Ray Phillips Jr. will be dearly missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched with his kindness and generosity. May he rest in peace.
