Betty Thomas Layne

Betty Jean Thomas Layne, 80, of Madison Heights, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Heartland of Lynchburg. She was the loving wife of the late Charlie David Layne for 28 years. Born on August 13, 1935 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Hazel Thomas. Betty was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church. Married at a young age, Betty grew up with her four children and enjoyed spending time with grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Kenneth Cash and four brothers. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Allen Cash and wife Vicki, Sherry Patterson and husband Seaborn, Jacquelyn Johnson and husband Paul, and Morris Cash; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and siblings, Joyce Burleigh, Earl Thomas and wife Kate, and Larry Wayne Thomas and wife Beverly. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Whitten Monelison Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, August 15, 2016 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Marvin Suitt officiating. Interment will be private at a later date.
