

Born July 19, 1957 in Mergate, Kent, England, she was the daughter of the late John and Alma Barker Lauter and was also preceded in death by her brother, Edward Lauter. Carol was a graduate of Christopher Newport College with a B.A. in Elementary Education and her, VA teaching license. Carol also had a B.A. in Sociology and a minor in Art History. Carol’s interests included art & design and architecture. She was Lead Teacher for Lyn-Cag, Head Start Program. Carol enjoyed a good book, loved Sci-fi, action adventure movies, mysteries, rock and roll music and concerts. She will miss cherished friends and cool summer breezes.
Carol is survived by two sisters, Adele Counts and husband Bruce of Warrenton, NC and Louise Williams and husband Travis of Pamplin, VA; six nieces; four nephews: and her beloved, Mike Highfill.
Carol wanted to send special thanks to Bea Falls, Denise Carrow, Tammy Coates and to her advocate, Debbie Greenway, BSN, RN.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church Cemetery in Appomattox with Father Jim Gallagher officiating .
