Catherine Elizabeth Nicholas Viar

Born June 21, 1941 in Charleston, SC, she was the daughter of the late Joseph W. Nicholas and the late Christine Williams Nicholas Mayo and was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy Wayne Silby. She retired after many years as a restaurant manager and was of Baptist faith.

Mrs. Viar is survived by her daughter, Kathleen H. Byrd and husband James of Madison Heights; two sons, John B. Silby, also of Madison Heights and Robert W. Silby and wife Pamela of Lynchburg; two sisters, Nancy N. Anderson and husband Howard of South Boston and Judy N. Campbell of Concord; six grandchildren, Maureen, Whitney, Lindsey, Emily, Meagan, and Bethany and a great-grandchild, Blake.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2013 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. J. Monty Fox officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m., Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at the home of her daughter, Kathleen.
