

Cecil Talmage Coleman, 81, of Madison Heights, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 19, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He passed away at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Eleanor Darlene Burch Coleman.
Born August 3, 1929, in Amherst County, he was the son of the late George Washington Coleman and the late Lula Brown Coleman. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters. He is survived by one sister, Mary Coleman Padgett of Chester, VA.
He was the retired owner and operator of T.V. Service Center in Madison Heights and a dedicated member of Sandy Bottom Christian Church where he served as an Elder, Deacon and board member. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, C. Gary Coleman; daughters Diane Coleman Newman and husband Greg, Amy Coleman Sangston, and husband Mark, all of Madison Heights.
He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately called him “Ba.” Grandchildren are Jennifer Newman Blodgett and husband Travis, Melinda Newman Ellis and husband Chip, Kristin Newman, Brittany Coleman, Brandon Sangston, Trevor Coleman, Tyler Sangston, Allison Sangston, great-granddaughter Emma Ellis and step great-grandchildren Chenoa, Gabriel, and Dakota Blodgett.
Ba enjoyed working in his garden, making special things for his family in his “wood shop” and spending time with his family. He loved his family and cherished every opportunity to spend time with them.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Sandy Bottom Christian Church with the Reverend Jim Freeman and Reverend Tommy McBride officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 6:30-8:30 at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions to be made to Centra Hospice, Sandy Bottom Christian Church, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
The family would like to thank Centra Hospice, especially Vicky Bailey, Katie Williams, Robin Ferguson, and Miriam Dakin. Also special thanks to Dr. Bendall and Sandra and also Dr. Betz.
