Born December 12, 1971, Chris was known for the love and care she showed to everyone around her. She had a special way of seeing the good in others, trusting them fully, and offering help without hesitation, always willing to give even the shirt off her back if it meant easing someone else’s burden. Throughout her life, she gave generously of her time and energy to those in need, often putting others before herself in a way that spoke to the depth of her compassion.
Chris served as a paramedic for many years, dedicating her skills and heart to caring for people in their most vulnerable moments. Wherever she was needed, she answered with quiet strength and unwavering commitment.
She also found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including her fondness for Tigger and the Grinch, small things that brought her genuine happiness. Growing up on a dairy farm gave her a strong and steady foundation, one rooted in hard work, humility, and caring for others, values she carried with her throughout her life.
Chris formed meaningful friendships, especially within the Gladstone Seniors group, where she found connection, laughter, and companionship she deeply treasured. Above all, she loved her family with her whole heart, giving them her time, her strength, and her unwavering devotion. She was a loving wife and a dedicated mother, roles she cherished above all else.
Her faith was an important part of her life. Chris was proud to be a Christian and found comfort and joy in attending church whenever she could or watching services from home when she was unable to be there in person.
Chris leaves behind a space that cannot be filled. She will be deeply and forever missed.
In addition to her father Chris was preceded in passing by her in-laws Ray Showalter and Alice.
Those left to cherish Chris’ memory include her devoted husband Brian Showalter; her children Hanna Showalter, CJ Showalter and his partner Meghan Nuckols; her mother Emma Dudley Simpkins; her sisters Whitney and Annetta Simpkins; her nephew Daniel Simpkins and his wife Victoria; her step-children JD Martin, Parker Snyder and his wife Kelsy along with their children Braiden, ‘Kota, Autumn with another on the way who referred to Chris as “Hommy”; her aunt Ruth Showalter and her daughter Kristie and her husband Chris and their children Tanner and Spencer; her very close and special friends Debroah Hollandsworth, Beth Gasbard, Stacy Lester, Len Turner, Tracy Cadora; and many more extended family and friends.
