

Born October 6, 1957 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Cooper C. Dalton, Sr. and the late Shirley Bowling Dalton and was also preceded in death by a brother, Gary Lee Dalton. Debra was a retired Teaching Assistant at Robert S. Payne Elementary School with thirty years of service, where she touched the lives of many young people. She was of Baptist faith.
Debra is survived by two sisters, Annie D. Hunter and husband John of Concord and Rebecca D. “Becky” Craig and husband Jerry of Bedford; two brothers, Cooper C. “JR.” Dalton, Jr. of Rustburg and David M. Dalton and wife Carmen of Clarksville, TN; five nephews, Scott Craig, Chris Craig, John Hunter, Jr., David Dalton, Jr., and Cody Jamerson; three great nephews, Isaiah and Jamie Craig and Mason Hunter; a very special aunt, Tess Ann Sparks; a very special uncle, Mack Bowling; a special friend, Bill Burton and many other special relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Mark Grooms officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery in Amherst County.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Friday, April 18, 2014 at the funeral home.
