Della Martin Gunter

Born March 9, 1954 in Rockbridge County, she was the daughter of the late Hilwood and Vera Loving Martin and was also preceded in death by her fiancé, William Edward Tyree, Sr. and a brother-in-law, Calvin Burks, Jr. Della was a retired Nurse’s Aide with Lovingston Health Care Center. She was a member of Mt. Horeb U.M. Church.

Della is survived by a son, Garry Gunter, Jr. and wife Charlotte of Grottoes; a daughter, Christie Meraz of Tyro; a brother, Jerry W. Martin and wife Peggy, of Concord, three sisters, Maggie M. Ogden and husband Jimmy of Amherst County, Lila M. Burks of Gladstone, and Judy M. Randels and husband James of Brookneal; two grandchildren, Desiree Gunter and wife Ashleigh and Antonio Portillo and an aunt, Marie Tomlin.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 11, 2022 at Mt. Horeb U.M. Church with The Rev. James Hagar officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
