He was born in Lynchburg on November 8, 1936, son of the late George T. Dodgion and the late Mable S. Dodgion.
Donnie was a member of Windfall Baptist Church, was an Air Force Veteran and had retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation after 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, golf, NASCAR, and loved boating. He was an honorary member of the Monelison Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
He was preceded in death by two children, Rocky Dodgion and Dawn Maddox; a brother, Bill Dodgion and a sister Ann Dodgion.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 67 years, Peggy Woody Dodgion; three children, Deborah Deel, Darrell Wayne Dodgion and wife Pam and David William Dodgion and wife Annie; a brother, Ted Dodgion and wife Mary and a sister, Wanda Bunnell. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Whitten Monelison Chapel where a Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 5, 2023 with Rev. Dr. Derik Hamby officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park with military honors provided by American Legion Post #16.
