Dorothy Johns Branham

Born in Amherst County, July 23, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Johns and Virgie Branham Johns. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Larry Branham.

She retired from Central Virginia Training Center and was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. She loved to travel and was an avid shopper. She enjoyed participating in the Silver Sneakers exercise program. She loved painting and visiting and praying with others. She also liked playing bingo and dominos with her Senior Citizens Group. After 30 years at CVTC, she worked at New Life Preschool taking care of the new born babies, a job she loved for 5 years. She was also a proud citizen of Monacan Indian Nation and attended every Pow Wow.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Wilbert W. Branham; three daughters, Rosa Hicks (Wayne), Delores Humphrey and Cynthia Branham; four grandchildren, April Branham, Jessica Humphrey, Christopher Hicks (Stephanie) and Erica Murray and one great granddaughter, Ava Humphrey; six sisters, Peggy Branham, Eleanor Branham, Pasty Hamilton, Meredith Johns, Rillie Bryant and Essie Branham; and three brothers, Danny Johns, Roger Johns and Aubrey Johns.

A service celebrating her life and faith will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Minister Cynthia Branham officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
