

Dorothy “Dot” Lindsey Hurt, 83, formerly of Madison Heights, passed away Monday, June 29, 2015 at Westminster-Canterbury Lynchburg. She was the loving wife of the late Robert L Hurt, Sr. for 62 years, a caring mother to 3 children and Nana to 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Born April 8, 1932 in Bedford County, she was the daughter of the late James Lionel Lindsey and Laler Bell Anderson Lindsey. In addition to her parents Dorothy was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Catherine Weigand; two brothers, William Bryant Lindsey and Richard James Lindsey.
Dorothy was a homemaker, attended Fairview Christian Church and loved to travel with her husband and friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Gwen H. Wilkerson and husband, Keith, of Monroe, Rhonda H. Nash and husband, R. Hunter, of Madison Heights, and a son, Robert L (Bobby) Hurt Jr. and wife Tami, of Madison Heights; 7 grandchildren and their families, Daniel Wilkerson, Joseph Wilkerson, Lindsey Nash Hill and husband David, Steven Nash and fiance Jodie Campbell, Brooke Hurt Terry, husband Bo and daughter Grace, Ben Hurt, wife Lizz and daughter McKinley, Brandon Hurt, wife Mandi and daughters Lorelai and Maci; a brother, Charles Lindsey and wife Nancy; a sister-in-law, Pauline “Polly” Lindsey; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Westminster and Hospice “Care Team” for the great care given to our mom.
A graveside service will be conducted by Chaplain Brian Miles at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The Family will receive friends Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at the residence of Dorothy’s daughter Rhonda Nash.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Fairview Christian Church, The Humane Society of Amherst County, or your charity of choice.
