

Edith Kerstetter Collins, age 94, died peacefully July 29, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Randolph Grey Collins and her daughter Rose Mary Collins. She is survived by her three sons: Randy Collins and his partner Kristina Silberstein; John Collins; James Collins and his fiancée Ashley Woodson; granddaughter Ashlyn Oakley and her husband Brandon; great-granddaughter Carolina; sister Miriam Locklin and her husband Ralph; niece Sharon Corl; and nephew Rodney Corl.
Edith Marie Kerstetter was born October 5, 1929 in Juniata, Pennsylvania, eldest daughter of Ray and Mabel Kerstetter. She graduated Lynchburg General Hospital School of Nursing and lived her life in Lynchburg where she married and had her family. She enjoyed a long life and career including many years as the Nursing Director of the Surgical Department at the Lynchburg Training School & Hospital, later re-named the Central Virginia Training Center. She volunteered extensively throughout the community, including in the Lynchburg Public Schools, Lynchburg Suzuki String Music Program, and the Connecting Points Community Outreach program of Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church where she was a long-time member and deacon.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Friday August 2, 2024 at Whitten Monelison Chapel in Madison Heights, Virginia. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Whitten Monelison Chapel at 11:00 am. Internment in Halifax Baptist Cemetery, Vernon Hills, Virginia. Whitten Monelison Chapel is assisting the family.
