

Born on May 3, 1937 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Elridge L. Brooks and the late Mattie Smith Brooks. Edith retired from Central Virginia Training Center and attended Tree of Life Ministries. She enjoyed going to church and singing gospel music, camping, and most of all her family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by four siblings, Earl Brooks, Sr., Joyce Scott, Dot Fuller, and Arlene Wade.
Edith is survived by her daughter, Glener Snell and husband Bobby; son, Calvin Earl Vest, Jr. and wife Michelle; five grandchildren, Kenneth Coleman and wife Sarah, Jason Coleman and wife Brittney, Heather Kiser and husband Nick, Hunter Vest and wife Andrea, and Forest Vest and wife Racheal; five step-grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; seven great step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Daryl Donald officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 12:30 pm. The service will be live streamed through Facebook at www.facebook.com/whittenfuneralhome.
