Born April 12, 1949 in Amherst County, he was the son of the late George Fleming and Ida Tomlin Martin and was also preceded in death by one son, Russell Eugene Martin; three brothers, George, Johnny, and O’Neal Martin and two sisters, Dorothy Floyd and Martha Tomlin. He was a retired brick mason and a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Mr. Martin is survived by a sister, Fannie Humphreys and husband, Lawrence of Madison Heights; nine nieces and nine nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 6, 2012 at Mt. Pleasant U.M. Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ronnie Freeman officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m., Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at the residence.
