

Edwin, a lifetime resident of Madison Heights was born in Lynchburg on January 1, 1960. Ed embraced life to the fullest. Throughout his life, he had many titles in the community including, member of Randolph Memorial Baptist Church, hunter, fisherman, softball and baseball coach and donator to the hunters for the hungry. When Ed was not in the woods hunting, he could be found spending time driving the parkway with his best friend and wife, supporting his children in everything they did, sitting on his front porch with his dog Buddy, helping loved ones with whatever needed, in the garden with his father or father-in-law, or at his long time place of employment, International Paper where he served as a machine operator.
Edwin is survived by his beloved parents, C. Lincoln Fitzgerald and Sterling Williams Fitzgerald, his best friend and wife of almost 27 years, Jackie Moss Fitzgerald; two adored children, Jaime Nicolle Fitzgerald and Dakota Blake Fitzgerald all of Madison Heights; two treasured brothers, David G. Fitzgerald and wife Martha of Winston-Salem, NC and Todd L. Fitzgerald and Kim Lucas of Madison Heights; his father and mother-in-law, Joe and Pat Moss; three sisters-in-law, Jody Thomas and husband John, Jan Thomas and husband Clayton, and Jennifer Fielder and husband Emmett; three aunts, Mary Tyree, Jerleen Fitzgerald and Dorothy Holleman; two uncles, Russell Williams and wife Janice and Alfred Fitzgerald; nieces and nephews, Adam, Joel, Emily, Zachary, Megan, Michael, Daniel, Lindsay, Daniel, Alyssa, Cody, Heather, Joseph and Sienna and a host of other extended family and close friends. Edwin’s life and legacy will be carried on through everyone listed above.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. James R. Williams, Sr. and Mr. & Mrs. W. Jaffie Fitzgerald, numerous aunts and uncles and most recently a beloved friend and cousin, Ricky Williams of Big Pine Key, Fl.
A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Randolph Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Derik Hamby and the Rev. Carroll Martin, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Amherst Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at the home of his parents.
