

She was the wife of her late first husband, Payton R. Cunningham and her late second husband Richard Morra. Born February 7, 1925, in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Thuell Wrandolph Wright and the late Cabel Massie Wright.
Elsie was a member of Monroe Church of God, and she was a graduate of Amherst County High School.
In addition to her first and second husbands and her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by one son, Roy David Cunningham; one sister, Florence Proctor; and one grandson, Matthew Glenn Cunningham.
Elsie is survived by five children, Robert R. Cunningham (Myra) of Lynchburg, Joy C. Fulcher (Dwight) of Allwood, Payton G. Cunningham (Barbara) of Lynchburg, Preston A. Cunningham of Madison Heights and Bonnie S. Cunningham of Appomattox; two sisters, Georgia W. Staton of Amherst and Annie W. Sprouse of Monroe; one brother, Wayne Maddox (Mary) of Monroe; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and nine nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Whitten Monelison Chapel. Interment will follow at Amherst Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Monday, June 13, 2016, at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 or a charity of one’s choice.
