

Born June 16, 1941, in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Frank Lloyd Murphy and Sarah Palmer McCullouch Murphy. He was also preceded in death by his twin sister, Sandra Wright.
Mr. Murphy was a United States Navy veteran. He was retired from Babcock Wilcox after 35 years of service. He was a former EMT and CPR instructor. He enjoyed photography and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors also include two children, his daughter, Karen M. Crosby and her husband Paul, and his son, Dennis W. Murphy, both of Madison Heights; two brothers, Frank Murphy Jr., of Lynchburg, and Edgar Murphy and wife Marie, of Madison Heights; two grandchildren, Brandon Murphy, and Colleen Crosby.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 9, 2011, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2011, at Whitten Monelison Chapel, by the Rev. George Harris. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
