

Franklin Roosevelt Smith, 82, of Madison Heights, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015, surrounded by his family, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Estelle Tolbert Smith for fifty-nine years.
Born June 29, 1932 in Botetourt County, he was the son of the late Harvey Alfred and Lizzy Bell Tyree Smith and was also preceded in death by three sisters, Eula Mae Hartless, Maude LaBrie, and Sarah Dickey and three brothers, Guy Smith, Harvey Smith, Jr., and Ikey Smith. He was retired from Wilco Garment Factory.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Smith is survived his son, Kenneth Steven Smith and wife Janice; his daughter, Judy Smith Micklem and her fiancé Mark Lacy, all of Madison Heights; a sister, Rachel Totty of Concord; a brother, Linwood Smith and wife Joanne of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Stefanie Copp and husband Chad, Steven Smith and wife Lorin, and Franklin Micklem and fiancée Erin Fetterhoff and five great-grandchildren, Macie Copp, Madelyn Copp, Anderson Copp, Juliet Copp, and Brodey Smith.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 11, 2014 at the Tyree Family Cemetery in Concord with Pastor Carey Forbus officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 -8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at the residence.
