I will always see Rusty as what a man should be.  He knew the difference between right and wrong. Taught it to his children. Went to work each day. Provided for his family. Did all of this without a complaint. He enjoyed life and would share his joy with you. He helped those who needed it without being asked, nor asked for anything in return. He took joy in his work, whatever that work was. I listened to many stories and was always amazed at the joy he took in sharing, even if I was for 2nd or 10th time.

I will miss Rusty and I rejoice in his long life.  

Officially, Rusty was my brother-in-law. Actually, when I was a boy he treated me like his young brother.  I have very fond memories of swimming with him, especially of the times when he would throw me through the air. He was a wonderful and caring man and will be missed.

Rusty was one of a kind - loved to see him at our Hospice activities or whenever He and Glen would come by the office and I was there.  I have one of his birdhouse creations hanging in my front yard...The world has lost a very special person but Heaven has welcomed another Angel!

I am truly blessed to have crossed paths with my friend, Rusty.  We had many conversations about life and the world we live in.  I will miss his knowledge, wisdom, and the infectious laugh he possessed.

One of my favorite stories was how he often would fly in his open cockpit over Connie's house and yell down to her  "pick you up at 5!"

This romantic action led to a long lasting relationship with Connie and created the loving family that we see today.

Rusty was a great man and friend.  He always love to joke and make others laugh. Very honorable man with  integrity and love for his family and friends. RIP Rusty love Gina Cates.

 Rusty has been an enthusiastic and vital member of  Centra Hospice volunteer program, and the We Honor Veterans program in particular. Rusty, partnering many years with Glen Mabery, brought joy and comfort to so many veteran hospice patients.  Our hearts are saddened of his passing. It was a great honor to know Rusty and he was a  treasured walking history book.   Our Prayers of comfort and peace are with his wife, family and friends.

Rusty was born in Shirley, MA to Marie Albertha and George Herbert Nichols Sr. He is survived by his beloved wife Camilla “Connie” Nichols to whom he was happily married to for 73 years; three daughters Coleen (David), Karen (Ray), and Kirsten (Dallas); five granddaughters Autumn (Jordan), Kimberly, Sarina (Drew), Jessica (Bruce), Jennifer; and 4 great granddaughters.
