Born on October 15, 1922 in Bedford County, he was the son of the late William L. Short and Rosa M. Short. Twice married, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Eva Short and his second wife, Linwood W. Short. In addition, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Howard and Lillian Howard; and one brother, Floyd Short.
He proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army. After his service in the Army was completed, he went on to work at Disneyland as an audio visual technician and he even knew Walt Disney personally. He retired to Hawaii (a place that always remained special to him), where he lived for over 25 years. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
He is survived by his step-daughters, Renee F. Campbell (Mark) and Debbie Jordan (Bruce); grandson Andy Jordan (Jessie); great grandson, Wesley R. Jordan; brother-in-law, John Howard and numerous nieces, nephews and Hawaiian ohana.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Msgr. Michael D. McCarron officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 16.
