Geraldine "Dean" Margaret (Burford) McConnell

Geraldine was the daughter of the late Jack Gus Burford and the late Eloise Rebecca Woodroof Burford of Waugh’s Ferry Farm in Naola, VA.

Born June 22, 1926, Dean grew up on Waugh’s Ferry Farm which borders the James River in Amherst County. Dean was a giver & worker. She loved her family & friends, especially the babies. She was a member of the First Monroe Baptist Church & retired from GE.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack Otway Burford, Roland Hugh Burford, and Edward Scott Burford; three sisters, Carolyn Elizabeth Burford Stinnett, Barbara “Julie” Anne Burford Brown, and Rosalie Eloise Burford Craft.

She is survived by two sisters, her twin, Aileen Rebecca Burford Young, and Rachel Louise Burford Tomlin; her daughter, Margaret Ann McConnell Logwood; her son, David Winthrop McConnell; ten grandchildren, Sherril Stilwell (Greg), Darrel Gallier (Stacey), Stephanie Micklem (Ronnie), Sheldon Logwood (Kellan), David McConnel II (Jennifer), Melissa McConnell Bradley (Daniel), Catie McConnell Hollyer (James) and Daniel McConnell; fifteen great grandchildren and seven great great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, from 2:00 - 2:45 pm, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Monroe, 139 Francis Ave., Monroe, Va. 24574, officiated by Pastor Glynn Coleman and Pastor Adam Staton. Interment will follow at Centenary United Methodist Church Cemetery, Rt. 130, Naola, VA 24573.
