Grover Cleveland Thomas Jr.

Born October 23, 1928 in Rockingham Co, he was a son of the late Grover C Thomas Sr. and Lillian McCall Thomas.

He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Kathleen Thomas, and Pauline T. Cole; and 2 brothers, Harry L. Thomas, and Paul L. Thomas.

Grover was a United States Marine Corps veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was the retired owner and operator of Janet's Salads. After which, he worked for Quality Foods, before retiring again. He was a member of Elon Presbyterian Church serving as Elder, and most recently received the designation of Honorary Elder Emeritus. Grover was a member of The American Legion, Post 100, Elon Ruritan Club and the Madison Heights Baptist Church Keenagers.

In additional to his wife, he is survived by three children, Deborah T. Baker of Forest, Gary W.

Thomas and his wife Deborah, and Renee T. Duff and her husband Dwayne, all of Madison Heights; six grandchildren, Reese Baker and wife Shanna, Allison Towler and husband Christopher, Megan Ringi and husband Pelle, York Thomas, Mallory Duff, and Edward Duff and three great-grandchildren, Miranda and Emily Towler, and Ava Ringi.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 3 - 5:00 PM at Elon Presbyterian Church located at the corner of Elon Road and Cedar Gate Rd, in Elon, and at other times at the residence.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 4, 2013 at the church by the Rev. Barry Tucker and the Rev. Wayne Meredith. Interment will follow in Elon Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
