

Herbert Clarke Brockman, 79, of Moneta, died, Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Eleanor Lee Brockman. Born August 24, 1933, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Herbert Page Brockman and the late Edna Lois Campbell Brockman Higginbotham.
Clarke was a retired Certified Public Accountant and founding partner of Brockman, Drinkard & Pennington and a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Moneta, VA. He also served our country in the US Army during the Korean War. Clarke was a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather and known for his quick wit, friendly personality and habit of teasing those he loved. The family feels blessed to have been led by a great man and the person to whom they aspire to be.
In addition to his wife, Clarke is survived by two children, Gerald Page Brockman and his wife Katherine of Richmond, TX and Catherine Brockman Stancombe and her husband Todd of Charlotte, NC; three step-children, Roxane Hall and her husband Mark of Georgetown, MA, Sherry Lee Rogowski and her husband Tom of Greensboro, NC and Tracy Dawn Barusso of Gloucester, MA.; one brother, Bernard Douglas Brockman and his wife Nancy of Lynchburg; and twelve grandchildren, James Clarke Brockman, Christopher Page Brockman, Chad Newton Brockman, Chase Campbell Brockman, Savannah Gail Stancombe, Luke Brockman Stancombe, Corey Blaine Stancombe, Lauren Walker Hall, Wilson Luther Hall, II, Mary Kaitlin Rogowski, Eleanor Michelle Rogowski, Alexandra Walker Barusso and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Whitten Monelison Chapel. Interment will follow at Amherst Cemetery.
The family will receive friends, 5-7 p.m., Monday, June 3, 2013, at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
