

Born January 16, 1935 in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Norman Tyree, Sr. and Margaret Turner Tyree and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Norman “Sam” Tyree, Jr. and Aubrey “Boe” Tyree and three sisters, Lillie T. Baker, Nora T. Linebarger, and Lois T. Straw. Pete was a retired Quality Control Inspector with Griffin Pipe and a U.S. Army veteran, where he served as a Military Policeman. He was a member of Madison Heights Baptist Church.
Pete is survived by two daughters, Joyce L. Tyree of Culpeper and Karen T. Martin of Madison Heights; two sons, Howard D. Tyree, Jr. and wife Leslie of Monroe and Norman D. Tyree and wife Donna of Amherst; one brother, Homer Tyree of Madison Heights; one sister, Phyllis Wright, also of Madison Heights; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Kristin, Michael, Allison, and Joshua; a great grandson, Christopher and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Madison Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Blake and the Rev. Steve Tyree officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Monday, October 6, 2014 at Madison Heights Baptist Church and other times at the residence.
