

Born on June 9, 1960 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late James Leonard Deal, Jr. and Dorothy Watts Deal. Jimmy was employed with Amherst County Public Schools. He was born and raised on the James River and enjoyed spending his time enjoying the nature. From the age of 16 till mid adulthood, he was a member of the Monelison Rescue Squad and later joined the Monelison Fire Department. Jimmy had a passion for serving others and his passion continued in his membership and service of ushering at Thomas Road Baptist Church. He received the nickname of “dancing usher on his perch”. He will be greatly missed by his church family and all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Deborah, Jimmy is survived by his sister, Dianne Deal Young and husband John; his brother, Michael Deal and wife Susan; his nieces and nephews, Lauren Carrington and husband John, Craig Young, Katelynn Deal and Kasey Deal; special cousins, Gail Simms and husband Ronnie, David Simms, and Brenda Creasy and husband Johnny; and numerous other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
